CALL TO ORDER
The Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.

The clerk verified the roll.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Councilmember Bennett, seconded by Councilmember Moody to
approve the minutes from the April 14,2026 regular called meeting. The motion passed
unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
A motion was made by Councilmember Hinkle, seconded by Councilmember Roberts to
approve the agenda. The motion passed unanimously.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
SECOND READING OF AN ORDINANCE REGARDING REMOVAL OF
APPOINTED COMMISSIONERS
The Mayor opened the item for discussion. City Attorney, Timothy Meitzen noted a
minor grammar change to Section 1.40 removing the words"for cause". The Mayor
asked Mr. Meitzen to read the ordinance in its entirety. Mr. Meitzen read the ordinance.
A motion was made by Councilmember Bennett, seconded by Councilmember Roberts
to approve the removal of the words "for cause"from section 1.40 and place the
ordinance on its third and final reading at the next scheduled meeting. The electronic
roll call was 6 for, 0 against.
NEW BUSINESS
A) PRESENTATION OF AWARD BY ACCRTA PRESIDENT STACEY
BENNETT
Ms. Stacey Bennett recognized the city clerk for earning her Certified Municipal Clerk
designation through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks organization and
presented her with the certificate.
B) EXECUTIVE SESSION
A motion was made by Councilmember Moody, seconded by Councilmember Hinkle to
enter into executive session. The motion passed unanimously. The council entered
executive session at 5:46 pm. Upon their return at 5:51 pm Councilmember Krug made a
motion, seconded by Councilmember Hinkle to reappoint Robb Roberts and Tommy
Bryant to IDC. The motion passed unanimously with Councilmember Roberts
abstaining from the vote.
Councilmember Moody made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Roberts to appoint
Chris Poole to the Planning&Zoning Commission. The motion passed unanimously.
Councilmember Moody made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Hinkle to appoint
Kyle Christopher as the liaison to the A&P Commission. The motion passed
unanimously with Councilmember Christopher abstaining from the vote.
COMMENTS FROM THE MAYOR
He welcomed Kyle Christopher to the council. Mr. Christopher has served on the Parks
Committee and Planning&Zoning Commission before joining the council. He is
married to Jessica Jo Christopher and they have a three-year-old son named Rockston.
The Mayor announced that there will be a Jeff Owens Memorial Bike Ride on June 6,
2026. There will be an option of an eighteen or thirty-one mile ride on paved surfaces.
He commended Ms. Chloe Massey for her hard work organizing the race.

Brittany Bennett—She announced the Fire Department has posted tornado shelter info
on their Facebook page.

Kyle Christopher—He thanked everyone for the support and stated he was honored to
serve on the council.

Lackey Moody,Jr.—He received three calls of appreciation on the tornado sirens being
operational during our current weather events. He acknowledged Chief McCollum for
his help in having them repaired. He extended a thank you to the Batesville Police
Department, the Independence County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Shyanne Malloy
and her K-9,Nixie for their work on clearing a building due to a local bomb threat call.
Robb Roberts—He echoed Councilmember Moody's sentiments on the tornado sirens
and thanked all first responders for their work.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Councilmember Bennett made the motion,
seconded by Councilmember Roberts to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously
and the meeting adjourned at 5:59 p.m.
