AN ORDII4ANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF A C17APGE OF
TWO DOLLARS PER YEAR. FOP EACH GAS METER IN USE BY A
GAS UTILITY, DECLARING Al.; EMERGENCY AND OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BPTESVILLE, ARKANSAS
AS FOLLOWS:
1. Fee _Levied: From and after the passaae of this ordinance
there is hereby levied an annual .f_ranc',ise license upon any
natural gas utility a license fee of $2.00 per meter for every
meter in use by the utility or its customers as herein after_
defined.
2. Number of Meters: The number of meters in use in a given year
shall be that number which represents the average number of
meters in use in a calendar year. The average number of meters
shall be arrived at by adding the number of meters in use in
each month of a calendar year and dividing by 12.
3. Pro -rate _1975: The francise license fee for 1975 shall be
pro -rated for the remaining two months (November -December) of 1975,
by taking t1 -P average number of meters in existance in 1974
multiplying by $2.00 and dividincr by six. Credit shall be
given for such portion of this additional levy as may have
already been paid by such utility earlier in the year because
of a previous $1.00 per meter fee.

4. Subsequent years: For 1976 and subsequent years the average
number of meters for the preceding year shall be used as a
basis for payment.
5. Time of Payment: The francise license shall be from calendar
year to calendar year and shall be payable or or before March
31 of each year.
6. Emergency: Because additional revenue is needed for city
projects an emergency is hereby declared and this ordinance
shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
